What That Means During Enrollment

The State of Kansas requires proof of legal residence in the U.S. and proof of Kansas Residency, which must come from only from documents approved by the State (scroll to the bottom of the page for the approved documents list). You must use the exact information from approved documents for this part of the enrollment form, as you will be asked to present those documents at the Drivers License Exam Station when getting the State Photo Permit.

Here's why it's important to enter the information only from an approved document, and to do it accurately.

We enter the student's legal name and address from this form into the Kansas State portal, from which all State Permits and Drivers Licenses will be generated, which includes the State issued Drivers Ed Paper Permit that we issue at the end of our classroom session. When students take that permit to the Drivers License Exam Station to exchange for the State Photo Permit, they will be asked to present the approved documents to compare with the information they show in the portal. If it does not match, they will not issue the permit. That permit is one of the big benefits of taking Drivers Ed, as it allows students to bypass the written test at the Drivers License Exam Station when getting their State Photo Permit.



The State requires students to show proof of legal residence and proof of Kansas Residency before issuing a State Permit or Restricted License, and they will accept only certain specific documents to provide that information (click here, or scroll to the bottom of the page to see a list of approved documents). After you choose an approved document, be sure you enter the information EXACTLY as it appears on the document, as the State will use that information to verify the student is legally residing in the United States, and that they are a legal resident of the State Of Kansas.
