"I get asked quite often why I decided to open my own driving school. And the reason is really pretty simple. After everything I've seen in nearly 40 years as a traffic reporter, I knew something had to change. I knew that we were missing the most important point of what Driver's Ed should be.
We needed a fresh approach that would be based on the reality of what every parent of a new teen driver fears: getting "that phone call" where everything changes in a heartbeat. And therein lies what we should really be teaching new teen drivers.
The key is to redefine what we mean by a "safe" teen driver. Because that very real fear parents feel is rooted in one single thought... they don't want their teen to get hurt. That's it. That's all that matters.
So if that's all that matters, why has it always stopped there? What we've been missing is obvious. If you don't your teen to get hurt, you better be teaching them how to stay out of wrecks... and that's what we do. After reporting on literally tens of thousands of accidents, I know what really causes wrecks. And better yet, I know what it takes to stay out of them. That's why I created a curriculum focused on 'Collision Avoidance'... real-world strategies that help teens stay away from the things that I see cause wrecks every day. In fact, we teach our students how to avoid one common mistake drivers make that causes the vast majority of the accidents I report on! Seriously!
Patiently providing guidance to the student,
Building student confidence through empathy and encouragement
Provide strategies to help students master difficult driving skills
So your teen's almost old enough to drive... and all you want is for them it to be a safe driver... which you probably think is all the things you were taught in drivers ed. But it's much more than that. Think about it... as the parent of a new teen driver, isn't your biggest fear getting that late night phone call that your teen's been involved in a wreck? It's a parents worst nightmare. , if that's your biggest Of course. And when you look at it that way, it becomes crystal clear. If being a safe driver means keeping them from getting hurt, what they really need to learn is how to stay out of wrecks... and that's what we do. I've taken my experience reporting on tens of thousands of wrecks and created driving lessons that focus on collision avoidance... easy to apply strategies to avoid the things I see cause accidents ever day.
